2016, October 13 - Judicial Candidates Forum
Justice Initiatives was proud to again sponsor a Judicial Candidates' Forum this election year for candidates running for judicial seats on the District Court bench in Mecklenburg County, the NC Court of Appeals bench, and the NC Supreme Court bench. The forum was held at the Charlotte School of Law with Taylor Batten from the Charlotte Observer serving as moderator.

2014, October 15 - Judicial Candidates Forum
Justice Initiatives was proud to again sponsor a judicial candidates' forum for all individuals vying for a seat on the Superior and District Court Bench in the 26th Judicial District. The forum was held at the Charlotte School of Law with Taylor Batten from the Charlotte Observer serving as moderator. A complete video recordation of the debate can be found below.

The mission of the Mecklenburg County Bar is to serve the public and the Bar members in improving and preserving the administration of justice, and to assist the North Carolina State Bar as described by statutory requirements

2013 - National Adoption Day
Justice Initiatives was proud to provide funding for National Adoption Day. We have participated in this worthy event for many years and look forward to continuing to do so in the future.

2013 - Juror Appreciation Week
For the 6th consecutive year, Justice Initiatives proudly sponsored Juror Appreciation Month. For one week in July each year, all residents of the 26th Judicial District (Mecklenburg County) are encouraged to applaud the efforts of jurors who support the justice system and fulfill this important civic responsibility on a daily basis, as well as to raise awareness of the importance of jury service.
 
Justice Initiatives provided funds for newspapers, magazines and movies to help entertain jurors during their time spent in the Jury Assembly Room. Movies were shown in the same room along with popcorn and refreshments. Prize drawings were held twice daily during the week along with special presentations from deputies, judges, court reporters and other officials.

2010 - District Attorney Debate
Justice Initiatives, Inc. sponsored a debate between the candidates vying for the District Attorney position in Mecklenburg County: Andrew Murray (Republican) and Michael Barnes (Democrat). The debate took place on Thursday, October 14, 2010 from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the Charlotte School of Law.

2010, March - Town Hall Meeting
The 26th Judicial District of North Carolina and Justice Initiatives, Inc. sponsored the second in a series of Town Hall Meetings on Wednesday, March 24th at 7:00 pm at the Charlotte School of Law. This forum provided an opportunity for the public to meet local judges and court officials and to receive information and ask questions about the Mecklenburg County Court System. News14 Carolina provided in-depth coverage of the event on their website. Planning is already underway for the next offering.

2009, October - Town Hall Meeting Series
The 26th Judicial District of North Carolina and Justice Initiatives, Inc. sponsored the first in a series of Town Hall Meetings on Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 7:00 pm on the CPCC - Cato Campus. This forum provided an opportunity for the public to meet local judges and court officials and to receive information and ask questions about the Mecklenburg County Court System. WBTV provided live coverage of the event via streaming video on their website. Planning is already underway for the next offering.

2008, July 9 - I-CAN! Launch Celebration
The Board of Justice Initiatives, Inc. and The Family Court Division of the Trial Court Administratorís Office cordially invite you to our I-CAN! Launch Celebration on Wednesday, July 9, 2008.
 
Through the generous support of the North Carolina Bar Association,
Mecklenburg County Bar and Mecklenburg County Government a set
of interactive self-help legal forms have now been developed for the
use of the general public.
 
A brief presentation of this new and exciting web-based service will
be given in Room 4510 of the Mecklenburg County Courthouse
beginning at 10:00 AM. The presentation will then be followed by a
live demonstration in The SelfServe Center, Suite 3350.
