Biography:
James G. (Gil) Middlebrooks is a partner at the
law firm of McGuireWoods, LLP and has
re-energized the practice of education law for
public school systems. He has served as
principal and primary outside counsel to many
local boards of educators, including the
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education that
operates one of the nation's largest urban
school districts. Gil recently completed a term
as chair of the North Carolina Council of School
Attorneys. He speaks frequently nationwide on
education topics, and his presentations at the
National School Boards Association conventions
and LRP's National Institutes on Educating
Individuals with Disabilities have garnered high
acclaim.
In addition to his education practice, Gil is
currently litigating a number of commercial
cases involving complex antitrust, construction
and insurance coverage issues. He also counsels
clients on antitrust compliance at state,
national and international levels. Gil was
previously a member of Helms, Mullis & Wicker,
PLLC in Charlotte, North Carolina and an
associate of Hogan & Hartson in Washington, D.C.

Association.
