2016, October 28 – Sixth Legal Eagle Charity Golf Tournament

A beautiful fall day greeted supporters including judges, attorneys, business professionals, law students, and community advocates for fellowship and golf for great causes. The always scenic and challenging course at Verdict Ridge Golf and Country Club served as the perfect backdrop.

A special thank you is extended to all our participants, sponsors, and volunteers. We also are appreciative of having Delano Little, Sports Director and Anchor at WBTV Channel 3, for emceeing our awards ceremony. We also want to acknowledge our partners at the Mecklenburg County Bar and Mecklenburg Bar Foundation for their efforts in helping to plan this ever-growing great networking and fundraising event.

Net proceeds from the event benefit Justice Initiatives and the Mecklenburg Bar Foundation in their efforts to support organizations with a legal nexus in our community. Recipients of funding this year include Legal Services of Southern Piedmont, Legal Aid of North Carolina and the Council for Children’s Rights.

2016, April 28 – Evening at the Courthouse Fundraiser
On Thursday, April 28, 2016, Justice Initiatives, Inc. hosted the 10th Annual Evening at the Courthouse Fundraiser event at the Mecklenburg County courthouse. Many distinguished guests attended, including members of the state and federal judiciary, state and local elected representatives, and leading members of the Mecklenburg County bar and business community. Guests enjoyed entrees, desserts, and a coffee bar from some of Charlotte’s finest dining establishments. VIP sponsors and guests were entertained by music from guitarist Jeff Brown, and main event guests heard favorites from deejay Billy Davis. There was a silent auction with many exciting items and packages. New this year, an energetic live auction was added and facilitated by Perry's at Southpark proprietor Ernest Perry. Thanks to the many generous donations, Justice Initiatives was able to meet its annual fundraising goal.

2015, October 23 – Fifth Legal Eagle Charity Golf Tournament

Justice Initiatives and the Mecklenburg Bar Foundation pulled together another successful tournament at Verdict Ridge Golf & Country Club.
 
Numerous teams of supporters comprised of judges, attorneys, business professionals, law students, and community advocates were able to enjoy the fellowship and friendly competition on a beautiful fall day that could not be beat. The always scenic and challenging course at Verdict Ridge Golf and Country Club served as the perfect backdrop for the event.
 
A special thank you is extended to all our participants, sponsors, and volunteers. Justice Initiatives looks forward to continuing its partnership with the Mecklenburg Bar Foundation for many years to come.

2014, September 1-7 –
Chiquita Classic
For the third year in a row, Justice Initiatives (JI) was designated as an eligible charity to receive funds raised through the Chiquita Classic Golf Tournament. JI was also the first charity to reach $10,000 in ticket sales and was offered a 10’ x 10’ Expo booth as well as a multiple advertisements at the tournament in recognition of those sales. Visits to our booth were steady and we welcomed the opportunity to increase public awareness about the work of the organization. We also would like to thank those that entered our drawing to win one-dozen Nike Pro Distance Long golf balls and extend our congratulations to the lucky winner: Camille Hefner. 
   
Thank you Chiquita, we look forward to participating again next year!

2014, August 22
On Friday, August 22, 2014, Justice Initiatives was recognized by the Association of Corporate Council (ACC) Charlotte Chapter during their 4th Annual Casino Night Fundraiser as a "very deserving non-profit organization in our community to receive much needed additional financial support."  The event provided in house legal counsel from Charlotte area corporations with an opportunity to give back to the community; and, give back they did as the ACC raised over $5,000 for JI.  JI would like to thank the ACC for their tremendous support and recognition of the important work we do.  The funds will go a long way in advancing our education and advocacy efforts.  Thank you for a night full of fun, games and laughter.  We hope the opportunity presents itself where we can be a part of future Casino Night events!
 
        
   
2014, April 24 – Evening at the Courthouse Fundraiser
On Thursday, April 24, 2014, Justice Initiatives, Inc. hosted the 8th Annual Evening at the Courthouse Fundraiser event at the Mecklenburg County courthouse. This year marked the 10th anniversary of the organization and was one of the best events to date. Many distinguished guests attended, including members of the state and federal judiciary, state and local elected representatives and leading members of the Mecklenburg County bar and community. Guests enjoyed entrees, desserts, smoothies and a coffee bar from some of Charlotte’s finest dining establishments. Guests were entertained with live jazz music from the Harvey Cummings Project while they participated in a silent auction with many exciting items and packages. Thanks to the many generous donations, Justice Initiatives made significant strides in reaching its fundraising goal.

Guests were entertained with live music from the Jack Rabbit Blues Band while they participated in a silent auction with many exciting items and packages. 2011, October 21 - First Annual Legal Eagle Charity Golf Tournament
Multiple teams of community advocates, ranging from legal professionals to Charlotte Law students, took the links together and enjoyed fun and fellowship under the backdrop of a beautiful fall afternoon.

2007, April - An Evening at the Courthouse
Justice Initiatives, Inc., a non-profit, will be hosting its inaugural fundraiser, An Evening at the Courthouse, on Thursday, April 19, at the Mecklenburg County Courthouse beginning at 6:30 pm. This fundraiser is shaping up to be the premier event within the legal community as many of the leading law firms and distinguished members of the Mecklenburg County Bar have eagerly been stepping forward to serve as sponsors.
 
This very special occasion will feature a sampling of cuisine and non-alcoholic beverages prepared by Charlotte's finest area restaurants, including Latorre's, Maggiano's, McCormick & Schmick's, Patou, The Cheesecake Factory, The Crowne Plaza Hotel, and Starbuck's. The folks who partake in this unique opportunity will be treated to an evening of food, fun and fellowship underneath the soaring atrium of the new courthouse. Festivities will also take place on the 9th floor terrace where participants can take in the night air and enjoy the incredible bird's-eye view of uptown. Attendees will have a unique opportunity to enjoy a private viewing of the building after-hours and to learn more about the various innovative and award winning court programs that serve this community.

2005, September - Justice Initiatives, Inc. Fundraiser
Justice Initiatives, Inc., a new non-profit established in support of the Mecklenburg County Court System, is hosting its first fundraising event on Thursday, September 22, 2005, from 7:00-9:00 PM. Judy Harrison-Barry and Dee-Dee Harris are co-hosting this invitation-only event at the home of Ms. Harris. Monies raised will be specifically earmarked for treatment and other services needed by clients enrolled in the groundbreaking and award-winning Mecklenburg County Drug Treatment Court.
